This edition of Ag Quarterly highlights Tercha Family Farm, which is a 3rd-generation farm, growing corn, soybeans, wheat and hay on their 320 acre preserved farm in Longswamp Township. Goal: Encourage industrial and commercial redevelopment and support land development that increases the tax base.
- Create a site re-use investment program
- Invest in site development where conditions call for a public role
- Map and track all Berks County infrastructure assets/gaps in water, sewer, electric, gas and broadband
- Support agricultural industry growth
- Support growth and positioning of the Reading Regional Airport as a critical economic development asset
- Support growth in industries that offer opportunity jobs
Redevelopment Opportunities
Using SMART Growth as a guiding principle for future land development led us to focus on redevelopment opportunities. Recognizing that utilities can inhibit development and redevelopment, we’re creating an Infrastructure Investment Fund to help address those challenges.
