WHO is Experience Berks?
Let’s take a step back. WHO is Experience Berks? Experience Berks used to be known as Pennsylvania’s Americana Region, or the Berks County Visitor’s Bureau. This organization is the front door for our community for all things travel and tourism. From branded campaigns to raise awareness about the amenities and activities throughout Berks County to working on attracting corporate events and conferences, Experience Berks is our central hub. Heather Zimmerman is the President and CEO of the organization and has been leading the charge on rebranding. Her team helps track down events, activities and other hidden gems throughout Berks County to help highlight everything our community has to offer for visitors and residents alike.
Where are they located?
Experience Reading & Berks County’s new office, located at 2345 Bernville Rd, Reading, PA 19605
Experience Berks just recently moved into a new office building right next to our Reading Regional Airport at 2345 Bernville Rd, Reading, PA 19605. Their new office is located near the Berks County Heritage Center, a public park and trail system which travels along the banks of the Tulpehocken Creek. The Berks County Heritage Center is the home to a variety of historic Berks features including: The Gruber Wagon Works, the C. Howard Hiester Canal Center, Wertz’s Covered Bridge, Melcher’s Grist Mill, a Bicentennial Eagle Memorial, the Distelfink statue, and many other pieces of local culture.
This new location not only puts them at the center of the County’s rich history, it places them right on the runway of one of the largest events in our area, World War II weekend. WWII Weekend is a yearly event which takes place at the Reading Regional Airport and is the largest WWII event on the East Coast.
Why did they move?
This new move helps combine the energy and investments taking place at the airport and infuses them with positive momentum and messaging from Experience Reading & Berks as our visitor’s bureau. A visitor’s bureau is often the central hub for events, culture and other experiences, serving as the “front door” or greeter for visitors. Having a new facility with better visibility along a major highway corridor helps increase the organization’s accessibility.
