A strong economy relies on the constant flow of materials, products, and ideas. Pennsylvania is historically known for its strong railroads and its strategic location in the Northeastern United States, however, as the world evolves, so to does the way we do business. Berks County is home to the Reading Regional Airport, a general aviation airport which supports corporate and business activity, air charter, training, aerial inspection, pipeline patrol and recreational flights.

In 2022, their impacts to the region supported 441 jobs, a total payroll of over $26 million, and a total output of nearly $78 million for Berks County. Aviation is a big driver of business and investment throughout the Commonwealth as well, with over $34 billion making up the total output for 2022. Under new leadership with Zackary Tempesco, the Reading Regional Airport has taken a more active role in being an economic asset for the community, he explained,

“The Reading Regional Airport Authority has completed a strategic plan to identify future goals for airport growth. Business aviation, operational excellence, and financial responsibility are always top of mind. We are working with key stakeholders towards developing general aviation and providing opportunities for aviation outreach projects. With these combined efforts we expect a bright future here at RDG.”

The future is bright for aviation in Berks County. The time and dedication of all the team members at the Reading Regional Airport are keeping an eye to the sky and their feet on the ground as they continue to position Berks County as the perfect landing spot for planes and businesses alike.
